Feeling someone’s hot breath on the back of his neck, Jingxiang turned to glare at the person seated behind him. “Quit doing that, Gao Taiyu.”

“I don’t want to.” Taiyu refused smugly.

“What are you, 3 years old?”

“We’re in the same class. That would make you the same age.”

“This is a university,” Jingxiang said, rolling his eyes. “We don’t have to be the same age to be in the same class.”

“That’s correct. You are, after all, two years older than me.”

“H-How…did you know? Never mind. You’re so rich; you probably hired someone to do a background check on me or something.”

“I don’t need to hire anyone. There are people who are willing to kiss up to me by giving me information for free.”

“Why are you even doing a background check on me?”

“I want to.” Taiyu smiled wickedly. “What I want, I tend to get.”

“Spoiled brat,” Jingxiang muttered.

“What was that, student who flunked behind for two years?” Taiyu mocked.

“I didn’t flunk behind. I had to put off my education, because I wasn’t born into a rich family, like you were. I have to work many jobs in order to save up sufficient amount of money for rent and tuition. I also have a younger brother to take care of.” Jingxiang caught himself rambling. “Why am I even telling you? It’s none of your business.”

“So, you need money?”

“Doesn’t everyone?”

“If you’re willing to sell yourself to me, I’ll pay for your and your brother’s tuitions.”

“What kind of person do you take me for?” Jingxiang scoffed.

“A poor person who would do anything for money,” Taiyu replied without much thought.

“I would never sell myself to you.”

“Never is a strong word. You shouldn’t say it, or you might regret it later on.”
“I would never…” Jingxiang heard the professor entering the classroom and quickly turned to face front. Trying to ignore the continuous blowing on the back of his neck, Jingxiang grumbled in dismay. Taiyu’s soft chuckles were oil to his fire. “Stop it!”

“Is something the matter, Jingxiang?” the professor inquired.

“No.” Jingxiang shook his head. “I’m sorry.”

“Alright then…” The professor carried on with his lecture.

After class, Jingxiang gathered all his belongings and shoved them into his messenger bag before rushing out. He exited the building and glanced back to see if anyone was following him. Giving out a sigh of relief when there was no one, he smiled and continued on his way. Jingxiang turned the corner and collided head-on into someone’s chest. Gulping, he slowly looked up and gasped at the sight of Taiyu.

“You seem to be in a hurry,” Taiyu said with a smirk.

“H-How did you get here so fast?” Jingxiang staggered a couple steps backward. “I didn’t see you behind me.”

Taiyu took a step forward. “First of all, you sped out without looking back so you wouldn’t see me anyway.” He continued to shorten their proximity, causing Jingxiang to back into the wall of the building. “Second, this building has more than one door and I took a side one.” Taiyu pressed both of his palms on the wall; one on each side of Jingxiang’s head, to entrap him. Slouching down so that their faces were at the same level, Taiyu gazed straight into Jingxiang’s eyes.

Feeling Taiyu’s hot breath against his lips, Jingxiang’s big brown eyes widened further. “W-What are you doing?”

“Answering your earlier inquiry about how I got here so fast. I’m making sure that I don’t leave anything out, because I want you to get the full details.”

“Must you be so close?” Jingxiang muttered; his eyes staring elsewhere to avoid Taiyu’s gaze.

“I want you to hear me clearly.”

“It’s okay. I don’t need to hear it.”

“Oh, but you do.”

“I don’t want to.”

“I’m almost done so let me finish,” Taiyu informed and proceeded. “The third and final reason is that, I have longer legs than you. Every three steps you take would be the equivalent of my one step.”

“I’m not that short,” Jingxiang protested.

“Well, you’re a lot shorter than me.”

“That’s because you’re a giant.” Jingxiang attempted to break free from the other’s entrapment. “You said what you needed to, so please let me go.”

“Why do you hate me?” Taiyu queried.

“I…I don’t hate you. I just…”

“You do know that I’m a guy, right?”

“Yes. You’re a very pretty guy.”

Trying not to let Taiyu’s compliment affect him, Jingxiang carried on. “You’re also a guy.”

“What’s your point?”

“We’re both guys.”

“Yes, we are. So?”

“Aren’t you…disgusted?”

“I would never feel disgusted, if that person is you,” Taiyu supplied.

“Because I…”

“Is he bothering you, Jingxiang?” someone interrupted Taiyu from finishing his confession.

“Rui!” Jingxiang addressed excitedly. “I’m so glad to see you.”

Taiyu’s eyes met Rui’s and the two stood there in a frozen state, as though they were in a staring contest.

Narrowing his eyes, Rui pointed his chin at Jingxiang. “Aren’t you going to release him?”

“I’m about to do so, but you interrupted me.” Taiyu retracted his hands and Jingxiang immediately went over to Rui’s side.

“Rui,” a younger male called out from behind, looking extremely grouchy. “My class is starting soon.”

“You should go,” Jingxiang suggested.

“Are you going to be okay by yourself?” Rui wanted to make sure.

“Yeah,” Jingxiang reassured. “I’m meeting Yecheng at the cafeteria.”

“Why don’t you come with us? I’ll walk you to the cafeteria after I drop off Bowen.”

“I’ll manage. You better get going. Your young master doesn’t look happy.”

“Bowen is only putting up a cold exterior,” Rui explained. “He’s really not so bad.”

“I believe you.” Jingxiang smiled knowingly.

“Rui!” Bowen shouted with his arms crossed.

“I’ll be right there!” Rui promised. “Be careful. Call or text me, if you need me.”

“Go.” Jingxiang shooed.

Rui dashed over to his young mater’s side, and Jingxiang took this opportunity to sneak off.

‘You already blurted out where you’re heading. Why are you even trying to sneak away?’ Taiyu thought. ‘It’s not like I won’t see you again. We have the same Economics class.’

Taking a glimpse back, this time on all angles of his surroundings, Jingxiang sighed as he caught his breath. ‘He really isn’t following me this time.’

Jingxiang heard his name and jolted in fear.
