Turning around, Jingxiang sighed in relief when he discovered that it wasn’t Taiyu. “Oh, thank goodness.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“I’m sorry. May I ask who you are?” Jingxiang inquired as he looked up at the unfamiliar face.
“I’m Zhang Binbin. Yecheng forgot his cell phone at the coffee shop, so he went back to get it. He asked me to inform his brother that he would be right back.”
“I see.” Jingxiang lifted a curious brow. “How did you know that I was the one?”
“You and Yecheng look alike.”
“Not really,” Binbin admitted with a chuckle. “Actually, Yecheng showed me your picture when we were talking last time. He thinks very highly of you.”
“Does he?” Jingxiang couldn’t conceal the smile curving the corners of his mouth upwards.
“Yes.” Binbin nodded.
“Are you and Yecheng…?” Jingxiang searched for an appropriate way to word the question.
“Did you want to ask if we were together?”
“Um…” Jingxiang grinned nervously, “yes.”
“Would you be against us for being together?”
“If you two truly love each other, I have no right to go against you.”
“So, you don’t mind that the two of us are both men?”
‘That’s right. If two people love one another, why should it matter?’ Jingxiang derived in his mind and remembered a somewhat similar conversation he had with Taiyu earlier. ‘I’m contradicting myself.’
Noticing that Jingxiang was in a daze, Binbin inquired. “Are you alright?”
“No.” Jingxiang’s response took Binbin by surprise, but he cleared up everything immediately. “I mean…no, I don’t mind that you two are both men. Love is love.”
“I’m glad to hear that.” Binbin smiled.
“Does that mean that you two are…?”
“Not yet. I’m not sure if Yecheng prefers men over women. Do you happen to know?”
“Honestly, I’m not sure either,” Jingxiang stated. “When I look at him, I see a little boy who needs my protection. The thought of him ever growing up and dating have never come to mind.”
“That’s understandable, considering you’re his only family.”
“There is one thing though. I’ve never seen Yecheng bring a girl home. He has mostly guy friends.”
“Yeah,” Jingxiang confirmed.
“Ge!” Someone called out as he ran over to Jingxiang. “You’re here.” He slouched over, palming his knees as he tried to catch his breath.
“Why are you panting like that, Yecheng?” Jingxiang stroked his brother’s back to calm his breathing.
“I didn’t want to keep you guys waiting, so I ran as fast as I could.”
“There’s no need to rush,” Jingxiang informed. “We could wait. Don’t push yourself so hard next time. Okay?”
“Okay.” Straightening up, Yecheng beamed. “So, you met Binbin?”
“Would it be alright if he joined us for lunch?”
“Whatever makes my baby brother happy,” Jingxiang provided as he ruffled the younger man’s hair.
“Aiyoh!” Yecheng muttered shyly. “Don’t mess up my hair…in front of Binbin. Plus, I’m not a baby. I’m already 19 years old and a student at this university.”
“I’m still older,” Jingxiang announced and ruffled Yecheng’s tresses once more.
“Ge!” Yecheng threw Jingxiang his infamous sad puppy face.
“Please don’t make that face.” Jingxiang pleaded.
“Is it working?” Yecheng mumbled with his bottom lip still jutted out.
Jingxiang rolled his eyes and heaved a sigh. “Unfortunately, yes.”
“Excellent!” Yecheng cheered. “You shall buy me lunch.”
“Since when do I not buy you lunch?” Jingxiang reminded.
“Since I’ll be the one treating today,” Binbin cut in.
Surprised, Jingxiang immediately attempted to refuse his generous offer. “We can’t let you do that.”
“That’s exactly right!” Yecheng agreed. “I’m treating the both of you. I got paid today.” Wrapping an arm around his brother’s shoulders, he announced. “Let’s go!”
“I thought you wanted me to buy you lunch.” Jingxiang gave Yecheng a taunting look.
“I did, but I changed my mind.”
“Why is that?”
“I want to look good in front of Binbin,” Yecheng blurted out loud and gasped inwardly. “I mean, it’s the polite thing to do.”
“I’m sure you look plenty good to him. Am I right, Binbin?”
Binbin smiled warmly and gave them a nod of the head in agreement.
Hey. A message came in for Luomiou.
My Zhuliye is early today. He typed back.
Since I was late yesterday, I thought I should make it up to you by signing in early.
In that case, you’ll need to be earlier than this. You owe me more than 10 minutes.
Why are you being so nitpicky?
I treasure our together time.
You remind me of my cousin’s girlfriend.
Are you calling me a woman?
Well…are you a woman?
What do you think? Am I a woman?
I don’t know.
Would you like me to be a woman?
It doesn’t matter what your gender is in here, as long as you’re a good gamer.
Is that all I am to you, a good gaming partner?
I’m just kidding. Haha! I think of you as a friend as well.
A friend you refuse to meet in person.
Isn’t it more fun to keep our identities a mystery?
Why is it so important to you that we meet?
I’m curious as to how my online wife looks like.
Why am I suddenly your wife? I never agreed to it.
Well, I’m Loumiou and you’re Zhuliye. We are meant to be together.
According to Shashibiya’s story, Luomiou and Zhuliye didn’t end up together.
Now, who’s the one being nitpicky?
I’m only stating a fact. Anyways, I’m not what you think I am.
Oh? He challenged. How do you know what I’m thinking?
Ignoring the question, he went on. My looks would scare you.
I don’t scare easily.
