"Oh, no!" Jaejoong looked over at Changmin with concern laced in his eyes. "Is Yoochun, okay? I'm going in to get him."
Grabbing Jaejoong's arm to stop him from leaving, Changmin shook his head. "Yunho hyung told you to stay here, so it's best that you do. A place like that is probably infested with vengeful spirits. It might be too overwhelming for you to handle."
"What about Yoochun?"
"Junsu hyung is with him. Let's wait awhile longer and see what happens. We don't want to ruin the whole operation."
Jaejoong agreed and sat back down.
"Could you turn on the sound for Yunho hyung's microphone?" Changmin adjusted his headphones.
"Sure." Jaejoong placed his headphones on and did as the younger man requested.
Changmin raised the volume and the two listened to the conversation taking place inside. They were doing their introductions at the moment and the head nurse gave them a tour around the facility accompanied by brief explanations. She constantly repeated the success rates of their procedures yet wasn't very descriptive about the details. Yunho excused himself saying that he needed to use the restroom and walked out into the hallway. Making sure that no one was around him, Yunho spoke casually without lifting up his hand. The gadget on his wrist was able to pick up sounds within a ten feet radius.
"Jaejoong, could you hear me?" Yunho said softly.
"I'm here, Yunho," Jaejoong replied. "Do you sense anything?"
"Yes, I sense a lot of anger in here. There's definitely evil."
"Yunho, I think Yoochun is in trouble. Do you want me to come help get him out?"
"No, you stay put. There's no telling what they would do to you if you're in here."
Changmin switched over to Yoochun and Junsu's side the moment Jaejoong began talking with Yunho. "Jaejoong hyung, you have to hear this."
"Hold on for a minute Yunho. Changmin wants me to listen to something."
"Alright."
Jaejoong gave Changmin a nod of the head to indicate that he was now paying attention to him. The younger man turned on the sounds that were being picked up from Yoochun's gadget.
Help me. I'm stuck here. It was a female voice crying to them.
Give me back my life. I don't want to die. Another female voice interrupted.
Soon the voices began overlapping one another, it was hard to distinguish them. Nevertheless, they were all along the lines of helping them get free from their entrapment in the place where they perished.
"There are so many of them," Jaejoong murmured.
Suddenly a voice stood out from the rest. It was a female and Junsu's voice merged together into one. "DIE!"
"J-Jun...Su." Yoochun struggled to speak.
"You must die," Junsu roared.
"Yoochun!" Jaejoong switched his microphone back to the team leader. "Yunho! Yunho, are you there?"
"Yeah," Yunho answered.
"Yoochun is in danger. I think Junsu is trying to kill him."
"What?"
"He might be possessed by one of the spirits."
"Where are they?"
"I'm guessing that they are in one of the rooms near the side entrance. Hurry Yunho."
"Okay."
They are taking her inside for a checkup. A familiar voice captured Jaejoong's attention and he looked to his right to see the spirit appearing. Due to his weak aura, the ghostly form became more and more transparent; fading in and out of visibility. You have to get her out. Please.
"Minah-sshi?" Jaejoong queried.
Yes. If she is subjected to anymore stress, her body won't be able to keep the baby.
"Baby? Is Minah-sshi pregnant?"
Yes. She's in the early stages of pregnancy, so she doesn't know yet.
"Why didn't you tell us earlier?"
I was afraid that she would reject me.
"Are you...her baby?"
I am to be reincarnated as her child. This is the last opportunity for me to be human again. If I miss this chance, I'll vanish forever. But that's not the real reason why I'm here. I want you to save her. She's a good person and she doesn't deserve to die because of me. He furrowed his brows in distress. They got her! I have to do something.
"Wait!" Jaejoong wanted to know more, but the spirit had already left. "Changmin, I'm going in," he informed and went to open the rear door of the van.
"Hold up, hyung." Changmin removed his red marble beaded bracelet and slipped it onto Jaejoong's wrist. "Keep this on. The spirits won't be able to come near you."
"Thanks."
"Be careful."
"I will."
Meanwhile, Yunho rushed down the hallway peeking into every viewing window from each door. Finally finding them in the second to the last room, his eyes rounded in shock at the sight. Junsu had his hands wrapped around Yoochun's throat, seemingly fighting within himself to stop choking the other. Unfortunately, he wasn't strong enough to win back control over his body and Yoochun's face was turning blue. Yunho promptly went in and tried to pull Junsu off Yoochun, but the lad's grip was tight.
"Junsu, let go of him," Yunho ordered.
"Yunho hyung, I can't stop." Junsu whimpered. "Die! You have to die!" Another voice spoke through his mouth.
Yunho muttered a chant of some sort and smacked his palm on Junsu's forehead. A wave ran through Junsu's body and he lost consciousness. Falling backwards, Yunho leaped forward to catch him and gently laid him on the floor. Yoochun was gasping for his breath, coughing to suck air into his lungs.
"Are you alright, Yoochun?" Yunho assisted Yoochun to sit up.
"Yeah." Yoochun crawled over to check on Junsu and patted his face.
"He's going to be out for a while. I managed to free him of the angry spirit which was possessing him, but we have to get him out of this place as soon as possible. He's a living vessel for the nonliving."
Yoochun nodded to indicate that he understood.
"Could you walk?"
"Yeah," Yoochun affirmed.
Yunho reached into his jacket pocket and took out a set of keys. "These are Junki-sshi's car keys. Get Junsu in the vehicle and you wait in the driver's seat in case we need to make a run for it."
Yoochun accepted what was given to him and shoved them into his pants pocket. "Help me get him on my back."
Yunho lifted Junsu off the cold tiles and plopped him on Yoochun. "Are you sure you are able to carry him?"
"I'll get him out of here alive even if my life depends on it," Yoochun promised.
"I believe you." Yunho slowly opened the door and looked out at the hallway to make sure the coast was clear. "Okay, go."
"What about you?"
"I need to go get our clients out of here," Yunho supplied. "Be careful."
"You too, boss." Yoochun safely transferred Junsu out the same door they came in and did as Yunho instructed.
Casually walking down the hallway so that he wouldn't attract any unwanted attention, Yunho's heart dropped when he saw Jaejoong running in the front entrance. 'What's going on? Didn't I tell him to stay in the van? Why is he in here? He's going to get hurt.' Wanting to call out to the beauty, Yunho had to refrain himself. Instead, he speedily went after Jaejoong.
When they got there, the head nurse was standing in the front with five male nurses guarding behind her. One of them was holding onto Minah with a knife up to her neck, while Junki was trying to negotiate with them to let his wife go. The staff was already suspicious when Yoochun, Junsu and Yunho were caught on the hospital's surveillance cameras in the hallway. The incident was reported to the head nurse and she told her men to get ready. The instant Minah told them that she had changed her mind and decided to leave with Junki, they held them hostage.
"Who are you people?" the head nurse demanded. "Are you from the government?"
"No," Yunho responded. "Please let them go and we will leave quietly."
"Then, why are you here?" Noticing Jaejoong looking around as though there were others in the room, the head nurse blurted. "Who's he? What's he looking at?"
"Jaejoong, get Junki-sshi out of here," Yunho ordered. "I'll get Minah-sshi."
Jaejoong obliged and attempted to drag him out. "Come on. Let's go."
"I won't leave without Minah." Junki pulled loose from Jaejoong's grasp.
Minah cried out in pain when the knife graced her tender skin.
"Don't hurt her," Junki pleaded.
Suddenly, the lights in the room began to flicker and an invisible force struck the knife out of the guy's hand. He was then thrown across the room and knocked unconscious. The other men were beat down one by one leaving only the head nurse to fend for herself. Sirens could be heard outside and soon, Changmin ran in with the police to arrest the head nurse and take the rest of the staff in for questioning.
Junki ran over to hug his wife and was thankful that she only endured a small injury. Jaejoong went to inform them about her pregnancy as well as who the spirit was.
"He's my baby?" Minah queried.
"He's very weak right now," Jaejoong explained. "There's a chance that he might not make it."
"He risked his own existence in order to save me?"
"Yes."
Using the last of his energy, the spirit managed to show himself to those remaining in the room. Please take care of yourself. He smiled sweetly at Minah and Junki, revealing two tiny dimples on each side of his mouth. Your future baby is very lucky to have you for parents. His form became unstable and he grew fainter. Glancing over at Yunho and Jaejoong, he bowed his head gratefully. Thank you.
"Thank you for saving me. I would be proud to have you as my child." Minah said to the spirit. "May I ask you for your name?"
His voice trailed one final time before he vanished. Seunggi.
"Seunggi," Minah rubbed at her stomach with tears brimming in her eyes, "is a wonderful name."
More officers arrived along with forensics to do some digging in the backyard of the building. Over one hundred and fifty bodies were found buried, mostly females with approximately five of them males; perhaps the spouses of the deceased women. They were running an illegal operation there, doing experiments on desperate women who visited from different parts of the globe. For the ones who successfully conceived, they kept tabs on them and made sure the women came in for regular checkups. By the time the babies were fully developed, they cut them open and steal their babies to sell across the world. The new mothers were left on the operating beds crying in pain as they bled to death. Their corpses were then tossed in the back and buried. Since it was a secluded area of the forest, no one ever came to check. Those who accidentally stumbled into the burial ground were probably killed to shut them up.
Yunho drove his team home and praised them for a job well done, especially Changmin. The young gadget guy called the nearby police station when one of the spirits told him about the buried bodies. He let the others listen to the recording, and that woman turned out to be one of the victims whose soul was trapped there. Now that their bodies were found and identified, their families could have closure. Their souls were cleansed and they could finally depart.
Junsu felt terrible for what he did to Yoochun even though he knew it wasn't his fault. The team had no way of cheering the lad up, so Yoochun came up with an idea. He pretended to be angry at Junsu just to ease the other's guilt and told him that he would forgive him under one condition. Without a thought, Junsu agreed only to discover that he would be forgiven if he acted like the whole choking incident never happened. Junsu had to revert back to being his cute self and interact with Yoochun as he did before they tackled this case.
Jaejoong returned the bracelet to Changmin and cooked a feast for the team to celebrate the conclusion of their first case together. Yunho and Junsu helped him out, whilst Yoochun and Changmin were in the living room playing video games. They were like a real family, bringing warmth to what used to be an empty mansion.
Junki took Minah to a normal clinic near their house and confirmed that she was three weeks pregnant. Due to her frail health, Junki insisted that she stayed home for her first trimester just to be safe. He came by the office a week later to drop off his payment for their work. The five guys were delighted to hear about the baby and congratulated them. The moment Junki walked out, another man walked in dragging a giant luggage.
"Hey guys," he greeted. "I'm Dongwook, and I'll be moving in."
